Having worked for a couple of social service agencies for the last 10 years, I can connect my clients and fellow community members with pretty much any resource that would meet their needs. As much as I have worked --full-time with a part-time job and sometimes two full-time jobs-- I never thought I would find myself in a situation where I needed help. That was the point of working the extra hours, right. Well after a series of events, I find myself in that very situation I worked so hard to avoid. I actually need help. So as I stated, I know where the resources are to help people, but the catch is I don't qualify. Why? My gross income is too much. Not one of those lovely resources I so happily shared with others is available to me because they consider gross income only and not the situation.
The question: What does one do when he/she has exhausted all the usual options (borrowing from friends/family, bank, a visit to the pawn shop, etc) and the utility company can't give you an extension? Oh did I mention there's only # days left to come up with the rest of the money.
Any ideas besides illegal activities?
